These terms apply when you use this website or buy something from the shop. Please have a read before you order. Nothing here takes away your legal rights as a consumer.

Who I am

This site is run by Graeme Dinnen, a sole trader. “I”, “me” and “my” refer to Graeme Dinnen. “You” refers to you, whether you are reading or buying.

I am not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged and the price you see is the price you pay.

What I sell

Two sorts of things:

eBooks, which I have written and which you download after purchase.
Physical goods, chiefly Celtic sea salt, which I post to you.

A few listings are for products sold by other companies. Where that is the case the listing sends you to their website, and your purchase is a contract with them rather than with me. Their terms, delivery and returns policies apply, not mine.

Placing an order

When you complete checkout you are making an offer to buy. You will get an automatic email confirming I have received the order. The contract between us begins when I email to confirm the order has been accepted, or when I dispatch it, whichever happens first.

I may decline an order – for example if something is out of stock, if I have made a pricing error, or if the delivery address is outside the UK. If I decline after you have paid, you get a full refund.

Goods are sold for personal use, not for resale.

Prices and payment

Prices are in pounds sterling and include delivery. Payment is taken by card through Stripe at checkout, and I never see your card details.

I can change prices at any time, but never after you have placed an order. If a genuine pricing error slips through, I will contact you before dispatch and you can either confirm at the correct price or cancel for a full refund.

Delivery

I only deliver physical goods to addresses in the United Kingdom. Delivery is free, because the cost is already built into the price.

I aim to post orders within two working days, and most arrive within three to five working days of dispatch. Those are estimates rather than promises, and once a parcel is with Royal Mail or a courier the timing is out of my hands. If your order has not turned up within 14 days of dispatch, email me and I will sort it out.

Goods become your responsibility once they are delivered to the address you gave me.

eBooks and downloads

eBooks are delivered as a download link, normally straight away. They are licensed for your own personal use: read them, keep them, print a copy for yourself. Please do not resell, redistribute or upload them elsewhere.

Because a download cannot be handed back, the usual 14-day right to cancel is lost once the download starts. You will be asked to agree to this at checkout, and if you would rather not agree, do not download the file and email me instead.

If a file will not open or is corrupted, tell me and I will replace it or refund you.

Returns and refunds

You have a legal right to cancel most orders within 14 days, and on top of that I offer a 30-day guarantee on physical goods. Faulty goods are always my problem to fix, not yours.

About the writing on this site

The Stories on this site are my own thoughts and opinions, written for interest and enjoyment. They are general in nature and are not advice – medical, nutritional, financial, legal or otherwise – and should not be treated as a substitute for a consultation with a qualified professional.

The writing, images, design and layout of this site belong to me, or are used with permission. You are very welcome to quote a short passage with a credit and a link. Please do not reproduce whole articles, eBooks or substantial extracts without asking me first -I will usually say yes.

Links to other sites

Where I link out to someone else’s website, it is because I thought it was worth a look. I have no control over those sites and I am not responsible for their content, their products or their handling of your data.

My liability

I am responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of my breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.

I am not responsible for loss or damage that was not foreseeable, or for business losses – these terms cover consumer use only, and if you buy for a business purpose I am not liable for lost profits, lost business or lost opportunity.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud, for defective products under the Consumer Protection Act 1987, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 are unaffected.

If something goes wrong

Please email me first. I am one person, I read my own email, and almost everything can be settled with a short exchange.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own local courts.
