Crafting Words. Building Audiences.

What Is Your Pulse Telling You?

This ability to listen to our bodies is called ‘interoception‘.

The state of your internal health can be observed and detected by practitioners using either specialist equipment, and/or by years of experience in examining peoples’ eyes, their perspiration, blood, skin, saliva, hair, teardrops, fingernails, urine, faeces, tongue and more.

Under “more”, I include listening to pulses.

I Googled the phrase and read this reply:

“Your pulse is a way of counting heartbeats per minute. You can feel your pulse in various parts of your body. What you feel when you take your pulse is the pressure in your arteries going up briefly as your heart pushes out more blood. Every time your heart beats, it squeezes and propels blood through the network of arteries in your body. Between beats, your heart relaxes, which brings the pressure back down again. That’s why each heartbeat feels like a single push rather than a constant flow of pressure like water through a hose”.

Although undoubtedly accurate, this explanation doesn’t touch on the deeper values.

Your pulse can give you information about:

  • heart health
  • medical conditions
  • stress and emotions
  • fitness
  • self-awareness and mind-body connection

Listening to pulses is a secret of how the body relates to the universe.  Pulse textures will show themselves when you’re ready. With experience, you can look to the pulses to see what is happening in the body, or even what is about to come into the body.

Within us all is a perfect divine universal pulse. It is how we relate to it that determines where we have gone out of harmony.  The pulses give us information in a way that doesn’t frighten.

The way I was taught to listen to my own pulses is simple.  Place three fingers gently on the wrist above where the pulses can be felt.  This tells me what I need to know about superficial flows in the body – how we are digesting the outside world.

Then I press my fingers slightly harder against the wrist to ascertain what deeper flows may be telling me – how I am relating to the internal world.

That method covers a total of 12 flow points (6 on each wrist) and I note which pulse is beating the loudest and therefore what treatment is required.

It’s like walking into a room with 12 boisterous children.  You deal with the child making the most noise.

The information on listening to pulses in Alexis Brink’s videos is gold!

If the right pulse is in need, the person is likely to be a “doer”; if the left the person is a “trier”.  Energetically the left pulse is slightly ahead of the right, hence the phrase ”Left leads”.

Listen to a person’s pulse and hear what it’s telling you before you look elsewhere at the body.

I have witnessed several emergency situations where people have fainted, stopped breathing or given into some physical disturbance that was quickly remedied by first listening to their pulse to determine the nature of the problem followed closely by addressing that part of the body needing remedied.

The body knows how to repair itself, yet it needs the right guidance and materials and these rarely, if ever, come in the form of a chemical capsule.

Using our hands as ‘jumper cables’ we can help to unblock stagnation within the body, allowing energy (circulation) to flow evenly again, restoring balance to Spirit, Mind and Body.

What Is Your Pulse Telling You?

That is the essence of the ancient Japanese art of Jin Shin Jyutsu and I cannot overstate its importance in today’s world.
