What They Don’t Tell Us About Water

Water therapy is a simple but often ignored way to boost health and tackle a range of ailments. Let’s see how water can naturally heal and improve wellness.

First off, most of us don’t drink enough water, leading to dehydration – a bigger threat to health than we realise. We all know we need water to stay hydrated, but who decided eight glasses a day was the magic number? What size glass? Does someone in the tropics need more than someone in Iceland?

Clearly, there’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

As Elaine Hollingsworth of the Hippocrates Health Centre wrote:

So, how much should you drink? It depends on your size, activity, diet, and climate.

“…without sufficient water, your body has no way to eliminate toxins and waste, or the histamines that cause allergies. Hydration will improve your skin, plumping it out. Dehydration creates an imbalance of minerals, and disrupts hormone balance.”

My advice? Ignore all advice (except this!).

Pay no heed to generalised recommendations and definitely drink when you’re thirsty or in advance of exercise, especially if you’re going on a long hike in the countryside.

You get no Brownie points for nipping into the pub and claiming that beer and wine are 90% water.

Sometimes, when you feel hungry, you’re just thirsty. Drink until your urine is clear, not dark.

So where did the eight-glasses rule come from?

It’s often credited to Fredrick J. Stare, a Harvard nutrition professor with ties to the food industry, including the tobacco and sugar industries. Despite widespread advice, there’s no scientific evidence backing this rule.

In fact, Dr. Margaret McCartney called it “debunked nonsense” in a British Medical Journal article, linking it to bottled water companies like Danone, which profits from it.

McCartney wrote:

“Hydration for Health has a vested interest: it is sponsored and was created by French food giant Danone. This company produces Volvic, Evian, and Badoit bottled waters”.

She also referred to the work of Professor Stanley Goldfarb (University of Pennsylvania) that revealed:

“There is no clear evidence of benefit from drinking increased amounts of water. Although we wish we could demolish all of the urban myths found on the internet regarding the benefits of supplemental water ingestion, we concede there is also no clear evidence of lack of benefit. In fact, there is simply a lack of evidence in general.”

In an interesting response Goldfarb was contacted by Danone after his paper was published.  McCartney added about Goldfarb in her paper:

“After he wrote his article, he was contacted by Danone, and taken out to dinner by two of its representatives. They didn’t try to dissuade him from his views, yet they did show him a graph intimating that sales fell after the editorial was published.”

Hydrogen is one of the most powerful antioxidants with studies showing that it can prevent/stop over 150 diseases. You can source these health benefits just by adding hydrogen to your water. You can buy hydrogen water bottles that carry this out for you.

Remember the film Erin Brockovich (2:27)

Bottled water has been found to contain over 24,000 chemicals, including hexavalent chromium and other endocrine disruptors.

Bear in mind that you’ll see the different varieties of poisons that are commonly found in your tap water… and they’re well past “safe  levels”!

Depending on where you live, tap water may be reasonably ‘clean’ but a variety of unwanted additives may be picked up in the pipelines to you home.  It still needs to be thoroughly filtered as this video shows:

FB OskarTBrand:  We’re All Drinking Sewage (2:43). Watch this!

If you haven’t yet bought a good water filter, now’s the time. I’m not here to recommend any particular models, so get what you believe is the best one for your personal requirements.

Other than drinking it, how can water benefit us?

In truth, there’s no clear evidence that drinking extra water offers major benefits, nor is there proof it doesn’t help. What’s clear is that water companies have a stake in the myth.

Personally, I prefer filtered tap water over bottled, but that depends on where you live – tap water in some areas is highly contaminated, as was evident in Flint, Michigan. Filtering is essential because even “safe” water can carry toxins. And while bottled water may seem clean, it can contain thousands of chemicals.

In short, drink sensibly: tap water if filtered, and pay attention to what your body needs. Just ignore the urban myths.

What Is Water Therapy?

Water therapy uses water to stimulate energy shifts in the body, similar to other non-drug healing methods. It can help prevent and treat many health problems. Understanding how water therapy works highlights its potential as a natural healing method.

What They Don’t Tell Us About Water

Energy Flow and Holistic Healing

Water therapy connects to the idea of energy pathways (meridians) in the body, which are central to healing in systems like Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine. These pathways are believed to regulate internal energy flow, known as prana or qi. Western ancient thinkers such as Pythagoras and Hippocrates also referred to this life force as pneuma, which they saw as essential for health.

Water’s Role in the Body

Water helps the body absorb nutrients, remove waste, and keep the organs and skin healthy. Water therapy isn’t just about drinking water – it includes treatments like hot and cold compresses, baths, and steam. These methods can boost energy and help with a variety of health problems.

Benefits of Water Therapy

In “The Complete Book of Water Healing,” Dian Dincin Buchman describes many benefits of water therapy, including:

  • Stopping a cold
  • Easing pain and stress
  • Boosting energy
  • Improving sleep
  • Restoring health and toning the body

Healing Powers of Water

Water therapy can be as effective as traditional medicine for common issues like cuts, burns, and fevers. It improves circulation, detoxifies the body, and strengthens immunity without harming the body’s internal balance.

The Grandmaster of them all…..

The Q Energy Spa which I’ve used for over 20 years and continues to be improved and upgraded. This is undoubtedly the ACE for increasing your levels of energy, so important in today’s world
