The evidence for loss of farms is hidden in plain view: official statistics show a dramatic decline in the number of farms in England operating commercially. UK data show that we have lost over a fifth of English farms in the past ten years alone.

The cost has put the sector under a significant financial strain and has led to many farmers leaving the industry altogether. It has had a knock-on effect on the UK’s food supply, as fewer farmers are now able to meet the demand.
The excuse given is climate change. Of course there has been an increase in extreme weather in the region over the past few years, which has been detrimental for crops. Unprecedented storms, heat waves, extended winter have all taken a toll on crops.
But this is just another excuse to levy more taxes as there is always climate change going on and no scientist worth his or her PhD concurs with the official line.
Its really about killing off the small land owner and advocate of the popular Farmer’s Markets. Big Ag will of course take up the slack and then grow all manner of toxic fruit and vegetables that we unwittingly buy in supermarkets that outwardly promote health.

Another reason to start growing your own vegetables at whatever scale you can manage.
